I was born and raised in Nashville, went to college here in Nashville, and I have no plans to leave here. I get the response of “WOW” with questions of “why?”, “how?”, or “Do I want to move?” These questions always strike me in an unexpected way. They often do make me re-evaluate if I want to move or make a change. Although I know Nashville is the place for me, I also begin to think about the dreams I do have as a nurse. I do have many dreams for the future, but something I’ve come to believe is that just because we aren’t making a huge, extraordinary change like moving, switching jobs, or creating the latest, greatest invention DOES NOT mean that we are not fulfilling a mission the Lord has us in at this current time. I believe that sometimes all God wants for us is to BLOOM where we are planted RIGHT NOW.
There are many ways that we BLOOM in the exact place we are in now. God places us in certain jobs, cities, and circumstances for a reason, but sometimes we miss our purpose looking for the next great thing. As I have said in a post before from a book by Lysa TerKeurst, wherever you are and whatever you are doing currently NEEDS your exact brand of beautiful, needs your skillset, and needs your presence. The Lord placed you there because you are needed! Don’t let your job become a venture for a new job and miss the opportunities you have in the NOW.
Though I still have dreams for my nursing career and my future, I do not want that to pull me away from the ways I am needed in what the Lord ordained right now. In 1 Corinthians 7:24, Paul writes, “Brothers and sisters, each person, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation they were in when God called them” (1 Corinthians 7:24). Now I do not think Paul means that one must stay in one same job forever. I think the word “remain” here is referring to how we should stay focused and continue on in the present situation at hand. I am responsible for blooming and growing in the job I have right now just as we all are. In the midst of the mundane nature of the everyday, we are still needed and yielding something beautiful. It is pleasing to the Lord, and it is being as successful as we can be at this current time. Today, I am focusing on investing in Nashville, in my nursing career, in the hospital and unit I am on, and pour all of myself into that! My investment will only yield good things for His Kingdom as He was the one that opened this opportunity for me. He will allow me to bloom. This blooming may eventually call me elsewhere, but for now, my beauty and fullness is needed where I am at. Just as YOUR beauty is needed RIGHT where you are at!
I am praying that this week we pour ourselves and invest in the now. God placed you were you are at for a reason, and it is where He needs you at this current time. Praying for growth and blooming for you all where you are at right now!
Love always,
Katie Girl
