  • Chosen to Love

In John 15:12-17, Jesus says, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater
love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You
are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you
servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I
have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have
made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will
and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This
is my command: Love each other” (John NIV). This passage is full of truth, and
Jesus is telling us that the most important thing to do to your neighbor is to
LOVE THEM! I would like to call attention to verse 16 in this passage. Jesus
tells us that we didn’t not choose Him, BUT JESUS CHOOSE US. God has given us power to love all, and with that power comes great responsibility. We are
responsible to bear fruit for the Kingdom of God. We must love unconditionally
as God does and shine the light of Christ to everyone. By adhering to this, we
can produce a yearning desire in others to know Christ, and we can
unite under our immense love for Him. We were chosen, so pick up your cross and
    live as Jesus did.
