  • My Dream Board 2020

Hello friends for the last time in 2019!

It is the second to last day of 2019, which closes the year and the decade.

I was chatting yesterday about all that has happened this past year and the past decade. It was a lot of life for those that were born in 1993. This past decade, we had years of high school, college, and the beginning years of adulting.

It was a lot of change, lessons learned, and memories made.

With reflection comes new direction to accomplish all that I’ve dreamt of doing.

Growing up, it seems time goes by faster and faster. A day in Kindergarten felt like a week, and now it seems like I can’t keep up with how fast a month goes by. We do not have enough time in this life to waste. Everyday and every moment is a gift and opportunity to seize and better yourself and those around you.

Because of all these realizations on how fleeting time is and my belief that there is always improvement to be made on yourself, I began making dream boards!

I made one for 2019, and last night I made one for 2020!

I definitely stepped up my game with the project this year, but the mapping my plan out for the next year only makes it easier to execute accomplishing my goals.

First, I made a list of goals and dreams: the big ones and the small ones!

Then, I went to Michael’s for my crafting supplies as well as using some of the supplies I have from previous crafting projects. I also got the board I used from Michael’s linked here , and it has a rope to hang the board up on my wall to remind me of my dreams.

Finally, the execution! As I said, it was so so fun to make this board thinking of this next year and how to make the most of each month, each day, each moment!

Here are pictures from my project as well as my goals and dreams for the year 2020:

*I got an Instamax Polaroid camera for Christmas —shoutout to my bros and sis— so I had to put it to use and snap one Polaroid to capture the moment*

So the 4 corners of the board, I dedicated to the big things as well as the lower middle part of the board. I sprinkled in the smaller things throughout the spaces in between the big things.

    1. TRAVEL

One of the first things I knew I wanted more of in 2020 was TRAVEL! I would love to go to a new city/state at least once a month and more if my time and schedule allows.

I have always been a resident of Nashville, which I do not want to change. However, the world is filled with beautiful places meant to be seen and explored. I do not want to be victim to only seeing Nashville.

I’ve also always wanted to drive West all the way to California stopping at landmarks on the way like the Grand Canyon, Texas, National parks, Colorado, etc. That is what the California sticker represents.

I hope that time and scheduling allows for more blogging, writing, reading, and sharing on my Instagram and blog. These last couple of months, I have really executed more ideas for the blog and for Instagram, and I hope my schedule always allows for time to share with my followers.

I have always wanted to start a bible study or book club, and I dabbled into this a little at the beginning of 2019. I want to spend more time planning this out, and execute and stick to a set schedule with friends as a time to fellowship supporting and encouraging one another.

This has been a dream of mine for a while now, but with applications finally being submitted, 2020 is the year! I am so excited to take the next step in my nursing career and go to graduate school for my nurse practitioner. The ultimate goal is to have more autonomy in the field to continue helping heal others.

I always put this on my list of dreams, because of all the many blessings I have been given, it is the least I can do to give back to a community that has given me so much. I wrote down places to volunteer in the Nashville area, but I have also always wanted to go on a medical mission trip overseas to help those without the resources to heal those with illnesses. In either Example of volunteering, the dream is just to think of others rather than just myself in the everyday.

These stickers were just reminders in general to continue to laugh hard, love well, and continue to put myself out there to make friends and be a friend! That is what the stickers to the right of volunteer are for, and the one sticker says, “Life is better with friends”. Cheesy but true.

This was just a smaller one that I wrote in near the creating a bible study/book club. I have really gotten into reading. It brings me closer to Jesus, and I hear Him speak to me through the truths found in the books I am reading. I also need not rely on my own knowledge, but always be diving deeper to learn more.

This is a phrase I created in hopes to promote kindness throughout Nashville. Spreading kindness is so important especially in the world today with the news flooded with shooting, stabbing, and stealing stories happening everyday!

This is my favorite verse: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18. I put it on the board as a reminder that these are the things Jesus hopes we do continuously. It is not easy to do, but practicing everyday makes perfect.

This really should be number one, but I hope that 2020 never has a day that I am depending on anything else but Jesus. I cannot do life on my merit or on strength placed in anyone else but Jesus.

A smaller one, but I hope I can make it to the happiest place on earth in 2020!

I’ve wanted to do the tough mudder for a very long time now, so let’s do it this year 2020!

And I am sure there are some goals I have that I am missing, but I left blank stickers for that reason. A vision is a place to start, but it is not limited to everything you can think of in the moment!

What are your dreams for 2020?

I advise to make a couple of goals and dream about how to make the most of this next year!

Thank you Jesus for another year of life! And thank YOU for reading and being here and supporting me, Katie Girl! I will definitely be continuing blogging, writing, reading, sharing, instagramming, all the things! Follow along!

    Here’s to 2020!

    Love always,

    Katie Girl
