WOW. Cannot believe
that it is already 2014. One thing I have realized about time is that as you
grow older and more time passes, the faster it seems to go by. Another thing
about time is that it is so easy to sit and watch it go. It is so easy to get
caught up in a regular routine each day, and because of this human tendency, we
forget that each minute, or rather each second, is so valuable and precious. We
see so many tragedies on the news and so many that unfortunately have their
lives cut short. These break my heart, but it also reminds me that life is so
precious and fragile. We need to push and challenge ourselves to go the
distance.
I recently saw the movie The Secret
Life of Walter Mitty. What a GREAT movie to kick off 2014. This movie is
about a man who plays it safe, that is until his job is on the line. He has to
find a negative for the cover of the magazine he works for, and that means
hunting down a photographer that’s
a famous world traveller. His daydreaming days end, and he most definitely goes
the distance. From almost being eaten by a shark to climbing the Appalachian
mountains, Walter Mitty lives out his magazine’s motto: “To see
things thousands of miles away, things hidden behind walls and within rooms,
things dangerous to come to, to draw closer, to see and be amazed.” Along with
the motto: “To see Life; see the world” (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty). In
these mottos, the movie is challenging us to seek out the wonders of the world,
because not only are they beautiful, but these wonders allow us to see the
beauty of our Creator. God is the ultimate artist, who placed these wonders of
the world for us to see His beauty and get a glimpse of our God.
Make 2014
the best year yet. Challenge yourself to take advantage of each second you
have, and you may end up seeing a side of God that you may never have
experienced through the wonders of this beautiful, magical world.
HAPPY
NEW YEAR!
