“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in
harmony with one another…” Romans 12: 15-16a
So my best friend and I started
something that one day will be our greatest treasure.
Our friendship began long ago when
all four of our parents went to high school, and oddly enough each of our
parents married their high school sweetheart and had four kids- boy, girl, boy,
boy- all the same ages! I KNOW – CRAZY right! Well this crazy fact plays out
perfectly because our families are the best of friends even though we don’t get
to see enough of each other.
Together she and I began our own
joint journal that we pass back and forth to one another filling the pages with
our inner most thoughts, joys, prayers, and tears. Together we are documenting
each moment that we feel is special, and it allows us to share in each other’s
memories even though we are at two different colleges. She and I have never
gone to the same school, and because of that, we have never gotten to know each
other on a very deep level. My hope for this journal is that we come to know so
much more about one another and begin to see the God in each other. I am so
excited to learn so much more about her beautiful heart and this woman after
God’s own heart.
So my point in sharing all of this
news with you is to challenge you to find someone who you admire and begin to
get to know his or her heart. There are so many people in this world, and if we
don’t take advantage of the time we have on earth, we may never experience some
of the best moments of our lives. This verse in Romans is something that I
think fits along with this message. God calls us to rejoice and weep with one
another and to find someone to share your life with. Live in harmony with
person and be thankful each day that their presence is a gift from God.
